Very true for the original, although the new GE version has a wider range of control and some unique channel processing modes that make it useful for almost any dynamics taming tasks. BTW, Molot (Молот) means “hammer” in Russian which gives you an idea that this is not intended as a gentle, transparent compressor. Yes, it’s in Russian! You can still get the original free Molot (in the Discontinued Products section), but the new GE version is miles (kilometers?) beyond what that fun piece of kit can do. The Molot has been available since 2011 and was always a somewhat mysterious beast with a front panel that looked like something taken from a WWII Russian tank.
Their latest is an enhancement of one of their freebies, the Molot compressor.
Tokyo Dawn are a record label and a software company, and make some truly fine plugins including the excellent NOVA GE parallel dynamic EQ and the Limiter 6 GE dynamics processor.
